I can’t seem to find the shipboard CTD cast data for the Papa turnaround cruise # 4 (RB16-05). I’ve looked on the raw data server, alfresco, and R2R. The cruise report talks about issues with the CTD but it looks like a number of casts and discrete samples were able to be collected. Any other places to look?
Kristen
The data is available, just not in a format you or I would expect. It looks like the data was collected and recorded with NOAA’s Scientific Computer System (SCS). The CTD data and the event log with the timing of CTD casts and when bottle samples were collected is available in:
I’m tagging @cdobson here as well to see if he knows of any other source of this data. I’ve gone through the internal Alfresco data directories and they match what is available in the Raw Data server.

Hi Kristen,
OOI CTD cast data (cast logs + related discrete sample data for those casts) for all Papa cruises have also been archived with BCO-DMO. Within this archived dataset, the OOI CTD data files for all Papa cruises have been concatenated into a single CSV: OOI Global Station Papa Array CTD and Discrete Water Sampling Data from Mooring Overturning Cruises in the Gulf of Alaska from 2013 to 2023 (OOI Cruise Data project). You should be able to see this file (923122_v2_ooi_station_papa_ctd_and_water_sampling_data.csv), view, or download it from the page linked above.
Here is a link directly to the preview of the data file: BCO-DMO
You will also find centralized descriptive metadata for this dataset on the linked landing page, as well as readme files for each of the individual cruises.
Hope this helps!
Sawyer
Thanks @snewman. It is definitely helpful to have all the discrete samples in one file.
@chris.wingard I don’t even know where to start with this type of file. From the files that I can see, there aren’t even any headings or documentation on how they were processed. For calibrating the SBE oxygen sensor on the CTD, I need the raw voltage collected from oxygen sensor at 24Hz. Any suggestions are welcome…
I found it. I can’t upload a zip file via this interface. Kristen, I’ll e-mail it to you. Long-term, Sawyer can add it to the raw data server.
Hi, Kristen,
The shipboard CTD cast data for the Papa-04 cruise RB1605 are now available in OOI’s Raw Data Archive at:
These files also will be available in the corresponding directory in OOI’s JupyterHub once they sync there.
Best regards, Stace
Thanks all for getting to the bottom of this!
