PLIMS (Plankton Imaging Sensor) refers to the moored imaging system deployed at the Pioneer MAB Central Surface Mooring [link to instrument model and deployed location].
IFCB (Imaging FlowCytobot) refers to the shipboard instrument used during OOI cruises. It collects data during underway sampling and from discrete water samples.
OOI IFCB dashboard
Access link: https://ifcb-data.oceanobservatories.org/dashboard
The IFCB Dashboard displays images for recovered instrument data. Contains searchable ROIs (regions of interest) for both the moored PLIMS, as well as the shipboard IFCB datasets.
OOI Data Explorer
Access link: https://dataexplorer.oceanobservatories.org/#ooi/all/search?search=plims
The Data Explorer provides a subset of the parameters streaming from OOINet for non-image data in near-real time, telemetered and recovered (host and instrument) from the moored PLIMS. Available parameters include volume analyzed, ROIs per milliliter, look time, and internal humidity.
OOINet
Access link: Data Access & Visualization
OOINet provides all parameters for non-image data and metadata derived from .hdr and .adc files in near-real time, telemetered and recovered (host and instrument) from the moored PLIMS. OOINet, and corresponding files available through THREDDS and “kdata” folders in JupyterHub, provides near-real time fluorescence/scattering data.
OOI Raw Data Archive
Access link: https://rawdata.oceanobservatories.org/files/
The Raw Data Archive contains IFCB/PLIMS metadata (.hdr files), fluorescence/scattering data (.adc files), and images (.roi files). This archive, and corresponding “uncabled” and “cruise_data” folders in JupyterHub, provides the most direct access to raw IFCB data.
For the moored PLIMS, .hdr and .adc files are made available in near-real time via telemetry, and image files (.roi) are added after instrument recovery. All discrete and underway IFCB data (.adc, .hdr, and .roi files) from the shipboard instrument are made available after operations cruises have been completed. For the timeline for availability of the recovered instrument data, see [What is the timeline for getting fresh IFCB data from the Pioneer MAB Array uploaded to OOI’s data stream?].
Detailed information on finding IFCB data in the Raw Data Archive is included in the archive’s readme file: https://rawdata.oceanobservatories.org/files/00_OOI_CGSN_Raw_Data_Archive_README.txt
