I am reaching out to seek advice and insights on integrating new sensors into our existing ocean observing systems. Our research team is considering adding a suite of advanced sensors to enhance our data collection capabilities; particularly for monitoring water quality and oceanographic parameters.
Although, we are encountering challenges in ensuring compatibility and seamless data integration between the new sensors and our existing infrastructure.
What are the common compatibility issues faced when integrating new sensor technologies with established ocean observing systems? 
Are there specific protocols or standards we should be aware of?
What best practices are recommended for integrating sensor data into existing databases and analytical platforms? Are there particular tools or methods that have proven effective in similar scenarios?
Has anyone here undertaken a similar integration process? If so; could you share any lessons learned or resources that might help us navigate potential pitfalls?
